I’m Sophie and I graduated from the University of St Andrews with First Class Honours in French, Spanish, and Russian! I was also awarded a distinction in spoken French and Spanish.
I’ve been tutoring since 2017 with a history of students ranging from KS2 up to A-Level, as well as various adult learners! I have experience tutoring French, Spanish, Latin, German, English Language & Literature, as well as ESL, and I’m super happy to help whatever your level may be!
(If you’d like tutoring for other subjects/other purposes that I don’t have prior experience with, get in touch and I’ll let you know if I can help!)
My main area of interest is literature, but I also love reading up on current affairs and politics! I’ve watched my fair share of French films, listened to a thousand Spanish playlists, and love German slam poetry. I also used to be an aficionado of Latin scrabble but I don’t have anyone to play with these days…
Out of my three degree languages, I started two of them ab initio, so I have a really good understanding of grammar. Throughout high school and university, I did well in class tests/ exams, so if anyone would like advice on how to do well in time-pressured situations or on how to revise vocabulary/ grammar efficiently, I’m your gal! I also have a large bank of “essay phrases” which will make your written pieces sparkle!
I studied in France during my year abroad and lived with a host family, so if anyone’s looking specifically for French oral practice, don’t hesitate to contact me!
Whether you’d like targeted help in the run-up to exams, continual support throughout school, or whether you’re simply a casual adult learner, I’m happy to come up with a plan to support you in the best way possible!
Feel free to contact me if you’d like to discuss my services!
(I’d also be happy to set up an introductory zoom call to address any questions.)CONTACT
